Description

Motoexotica is offering this beautiful 1968 Pontiac Firebird that has gone through a complete, documented, ground up restoration that started November 21, 2003. On that day in November, a 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible was purchased on Ebay out of Milton Vermont. The car was then shipped to Sloansville New York where the restoration began. Almost everything on the car is new and has been replaced. 5 years and over $40,000 later, the project was completed and the car is as you see it today. We have pictures of when the car was originally purchased on Ebay and it looks to be a very solid base car. There were new front quarter panel skins installed as well as new front fenders, right and left full floor pans. These were all purchased from Classic Industries in Huntington Beach California. These are high quality replacements that line up perfectly with the original body panels that were retained for the car. There was a new white convertible top installed from Classic Industries as well as all new top hardware. The top shows no staining and goes up and down with no issues. We have just spent 2 days wet sanding and buffing the car. The paint came out to a very good shine and luster. The only imperfectins to the exterior of the car is some very small bubbling to the paint on the rear trunk lid. This is not rust, just very small, pin point bubbles in the paint. Everything inside this car was taken out during restoration. From gauges to seats to carpet and door panels. It is all new inside and in great condition. There has been an aftermarket gauge cluster installed in the center console as well as a new tach. All of which work with no problems. The seat and carpet are all in great condition with on major wear to be found. The same goes for the dash which is solid. The 400 Cu In V8 is from 1969 and was originally rated at 290 horsepower. The motor was then bored and stroked to 461 Cu Inches and the horsepower was brought up to over 450 horsepower. Details on the internals are available upon request. This car is a blast to drive and has a ton of power. The 4 speed manual Muncie transmission shifts smooth and the clutch feels strong and engages properly. The motor is being fed through an Edelbrock 4bbl carb and Edelbrock intake. There have been new aluminum heads installed as well as a BeCool radiator system with dual electric fans. Other options include disc brakes, power antenna, 10 bolt posi rear end and Hurst shifter. We have a 1 1/2 inch thick binder with every single receipt for the car. Most were purchased from Classic Industries. The underside of the car is spotless and has been painted the same color as the rest of the car. The dual Magnaflow exhaust sounds great and is a true dual system coming out of the headers. All rot has been cut out of the car and professionally replaced with new metal. This is a fantastic Firebird that begs to be driven. On the road, the car drives better then new. This is one of the best driving Firebird's that we have come across and shows that there have been ten's of thousands of dollars invested. The VIN number is 223678U173502 and the current mileage shows 56,257.
