Description

Motoexotica is offering another fantastic little Mercedes. This 1979 Mercedes 280SL comes with both tops and original A/C. We recently purchased this car as well as 3 others from a doctor who was selling his collection. He was very particular about his cars and kept all of them in good running order. Very few 280SL's made there way state side and you never see them today. Take this to the next German car show and you will see them scratching their heads. The paint on the car is older but in very good overall condition. There are some minor spots where the paint is showing its age but there are no major scrapes, dings or dents on the car. The trim all looks good around the car as well as the chrome bumpers on the front and back. Both side mirrors have some discoloration to them. The removable hard top does show 2 scratches as you can see in the photos. The paint appears to be the original and does show its age. The trim has some minor staining as well as the paint. With the hard top off, the soft top comes up and latches easily and is nearly perfect. We believe the soft top is only a few years old and has hardly ever been used and looks like new! The headliners on both tops look very good with no rips or tears. Inside, the car does not disappoint. The seats are soft and have been recently been recovered. The door panels also appear new and only show one minor imperfection to the drivers side door. This spot is less then an inch long and located just under the arm rest. Barely noticeable. All the gauges are in good working order as well as the clock. The original radio has been replaced with a newer AM/FM/CD player with Sony speakers. The stereo sounds great and works with no problems. All the wood trim inside looks very good with only some very minor cracking to the center console. The rest of the trim looks nearly perfect as well as the dash which shows no cracking or buckling. In the trunk there is a brand new spare as well as the original jack. The trunk is carpeted and looks very good. The tires all around are newer and are P205/70R14 radials. The wheels show no curb rash or fading. The underside of the car is very solid. Floors are good as well as behind the front and rear tires. The only spot where there is some rot poking through is behind the drivers side front tire as you can see in the photos. The current mileage shows 160,944 and the VIN number is 10704212006024. This is an original Euro car so it can be imported back and save you taxes.
