Studebaker operations ceased at the South Bend Indiana plant in 1965. All 1965 and 1966 Studebaker vehicles were produced in Canada. Studebakers, designated as 1965 and 19666 models, differed very little from the 1964 models. Minor trim changes and reduction in the number of vehicles built in the individual model lines can be noted as well as no Avanti's being produced under the Studebaker name. 1964 was the last year for the Avanti under the Studebaker name. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have found. The trunk is carpeted and is as nice as the rest of the car and includes a full size spare. On the road the car drives great. It has tons of power from the 289. No pull to either side and has a great rumble from the dual exhaust. The current mileage shows 59,475 and is said to be original by the previous owner. Included with purchase are photos of the restoration as well as the original option sheet, owners manual and tons of Avanti history and information. The VIN number is R4729 and the car is being sold on a Tennessee title where it was originally sold in 1964.
