MotoeXotica is offering this great looking rare 1958 Jeep FC-170 4x4 truck. This would be the PERFECT work truck or farm truck! This monster can haul over 3500 POUNDS in the bed alone! Willys introduced its new 3/4-ton FC-170 on May 27, 1957. To date, this was the heaviest truck in terms of gross weight (7000 lbs.), which Willys had produced. This really placed them in competition with the "Big Three." The FC-170 had a wheelbase of 103.5 inches and tread width of 63.5 inches. This allowed for a long 9-foot (107.25 inches with tailgate up) pickup box, the first time a pickup box exceeded the wheelbase length of a truck. Willys touted the vehicles strengths. Greatest cargo area (45 cubic feet) in its weight class and greater payload (3,510 pounds) to weight (3,490 pounds) ratio than comparable 4-wheel drive trucks with a G.V.W.R. of 7,000 pounds. The body is not perfect as you can see in the photos. The paint is peeling on the roof and in a few other places and there are some spots of filler around the bottom of the body. The bed is not rotted out and in good condition with only some surface rust showing. The tires are 7.00 - 16 and do show dry rot and cracking. This FC-170 is equipped with a Chevy V8 motor which is a common upgrade in these trucks for better drivability on the road. The motor is fed from an original style 2bbl carb. The three speed transmission does have some linkage problems which prevents this truck from going into second or third gear. It currently only has first and reverse. This truck DOES run and drive! Under the truck there is some minor surface rust but no visible rot that we have detected. The mileage currently shows 20,020 which is not known to be actual and the VIN number is 6416812012. We have an original Jeep sales brochure that goes with the truck. You may search far and wide and never have an opportunity to find another Jeep like this one.
