MotoeXotica is offering one of the rarest vehicles that we have ever had in our possession. This 1937 Lincoln Model K, serial #K-7816 was one of only 48 factory aluminum bodied, 2 window sedans built in 1937. According to the Classic Car Registry and the Lincoln Owners Club, this car is only one of TWO remaining in the world. The other is in Maine. The Lincoln Model K was built between 1932 and 1940 as the flagship to the Ford Motor Company. It was built as Fords prestige car to compete with the Packard V12 and Cadillac V12 and V16s. The original cost was $4,500 - $6,500 at a time when standard Fords and Chevrolets could be purchased for around $700. These cars, perhaps because of their unusual body styles, never quite caught on with the luxury car buyer of the day and consequentially only 300 - 400 per year were built. Far fewer then comparable Packard's and Cadillac and making the Lincoln K a much rare car in today's collector car market. This car was originally sold to the US State Department, which indicates that it could very well have been service in Presidential parades during the F.D.R. administration. Roosevelt was a fan of the Lincoln K and several were ordered for state use during his regime, including the famous "Sunshine Special", a 1929 Model K Convertible Sedan. This particular car eventually made its way to Fairfax California in the late 1940s, and in the late 1960s it was purchased by the well known newspaper magnate and auto enthusiast, Owen Owens, for his Ragtime Museum in Emeryville, California. The car was then purchased by Mr. John L. Milliken Jr. in 1978 shortly before Owen Owens death and was owned by him until 1998. When Mr. Milliken purchased the car it was in nice original condition with only around 77,000 actual miles but missing a few pieces and parts and in need of an engine rebuild. Mr. Milliken started restoring the car in January of 1980 and kept a complete restoration record of everything he did through 1983 when the restoration was complete and the mileage showed 78,360. We would be happy to go through the records with you if you give us a call, as they are numerous. All missing pieces were found and replaced as well as all chrome pieces being either replaced or rechromed. The carpets were all replaced as well as the motor being completely torn down and rebuilt. All receipts were kept and detailed records were recorded for everything done to the car during this restoration. The car has been showed at many Concourse events in the California area and has two second place finishes as well as a third. The cars paint is in good overall condition but does show some scratches and cracking on the cowl from the hood. There is also a small dent on the left upper rear section towards the top. This can probably be pulled out with little evidence of it ever being there. The front and rear bumpers are both in excellent shape with no pitting or major scratches to be found. The hood ornament looks great as do all the door handles and trim pieces. This is the original color of Brewster Green and we have copies of the original Lincoln specification and checking card from 11-25-36 showing the original colors and options, which was photocopied from the originals in the Ford Archives at the Henry Ford Museum. The VIN number is K7816 and the current mileage shows 79,814 and is believed to be original. The car is being sold on a Utah title with the previous owner having the car since 1998. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
