Description

Just when you think you might have seen it all something like this shows up. This Microbus has been shortened four feet and has a wheelbase of only 47 inches. Its high performance engine and generous tires give it sufficient dig to pop wheelies under virtually any circumstances. Even more than the originality of its concept -- something that not even the designers at Hot Wheels had the creativity to make up -- its materials and workmanship are simply astounding. This is, in fact, the ultimate Margarita Machine, a tropically-themed mobile libation preparation resource. The steering wheel is wrapped in Thailand rattan, the carpets are made from hand spun Brazilian jute, the interior side and door panels are Vietnamese sea grass, the seats are upholstered in African ostrich leather, the window trim is Philippine bamboo while China was the source for the bamboo headliner. It is equipped with the obligatory ear drum busting stereo tuned to the particular resonances frequented by Jimmie Buffett; there is neon lighting under the chassis and also in the interior. A work surface slides out from the rear and it is protected from the sun by a separate canopy that snaps onto the rear of the body allowing the preparation of frozen libations to continue despite adverse conditions of sun and precipitation. It was displayed at the Detroit Autorama and given its purpose probably should be rated "X", although in this case it means "Extreme". The new owner will be extremely popular at shows.
