Description

The XKE set a new standard, and it made coups sexy. This 1965 is absolutely the best of the XKE variants, the 4.2 liter, 4-speed synchromesh, covered headlight late Series I with comfortable seats and lusty 4.2 liter engine. A Colorado car from new, it was in salt-free Denver with its first owner, then spent the next 35 years in even less salty Grand Junction until leaving in 2004. Finished in Old English White with Blue leather interior and fitted with new chrome wire wheels, blackwall tires and a Pioneer cassette stereo, it is only the 53rd Series I 4.2 liter coup built. Under the bonnet the presentation is uniformly tidy, with good exhaust header porcelain, polished cam covers and SU carb dashpots. The square frame tubes are correctly finished in the exterior Olde English White. It has a quality repaint, the interior has been replaced with new leather, the gauges and dash are sharp and crisp, the carpets are new and it has its original engine. It is not a show car. Rather it is as tight, smooth, clean and as tidy a driver as anyone could want to find in a Series I 4.2 liter Jaguar, a car that its next owner will be able to boast about and still not be reluctant to use and enjoy. XKEs like this are nearly impossible to find.
