During this four-year design run, Cadillac offered its customers better build quality, more elegant styling and, perhaps most importantly, a V-8 engine. These and other attributes, introduced in what can be described as a sometimes-fickle market, helped Cadillac quickly establish itself as the luxury company to beat, surpassing longtime rival Packard for the number one slot, while Lincoln and Imperial lagged behind. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this stunning black, very early production, 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe that is in outstanding no-expense-spared restored condition. The previous owner purchased the Cadillac in California in August of 2011 with 68,515 original miles. From there, the car was shipped to Illinois to begin an extensive and well documented restoration. Viewing the stack of receipts, you can tell the previous owner took his time selecting nothing but the best Cadillac restoration businesses in the industry to source out the restoration to the correct parts of the car. The previous owner also photo documented the restoration throughout the whole process and wrote a detailed log of what work was performed including the costs.The exterior is in excellent shape with all the correct chrome trim pieces in place. The beautiful deep black Cadillac paint is exquisite. This Cadillac was fully disassembled and painted in April of 2012 adding a new painted and installed continental kit from Continental Enterprises. Today the paint still shows extremely well with very minimal road wear. After paint, the exterior received new door/trunk seals, new windshield, new trunk weather stripping, and new trunk Cadillac emblems. The previous owner topped off the exterior by purchasing five hand made in the USA Mac Daddy wire wheels with Diamondback wide whitewall tires for a total cost of $5,166 and a new windshield sun visor.Inside, the interior finishes have been completely restored with tasteful color combinations for this black Cadillac. The carpet is SMS Sage Green Wool contrasted with a lighter SMS Forest Green Wool for the headliner. The door panels received SMS Forest Green Wool along with the bottom halves of the seats, the upper halves are finished in SMS Sage Green Vinyl. The instrument panel, along with the dash clock, were sent out for complete rebuild and restoration and reinstalled with all new firewall insulation. The factory dash radio was sent to S&M Tech for full rebuild and restoration and updated the sound system by mounting a XM dock and play satellite radio and CD player in the glovebox. Also in the glove box you will find both water temp and fuel pressure gauges magnetically mounted. Finishing off the interior are new sill plates and interior kick panels.Under the hood you will find the matching numbers Cadillac 331CI 210HP V8 engine #5362-100018 engine matched with the correct R4-4GC Rochester carburetor. The transmission is the 4-speed automatic Hydromatic transmission. In January the engine was rebuilt with bored over .060 Egge pistons, bored over .060 pistons rings, and new timing chain. Engine parts were sandblasted and repainted. The intake, exhaust manifolds and lower bell housing were also blasted. The Rochester carburetor was sent out to The Carburetor Shop and completely rebuilt. After the rebuild the common maintenance items such as water pump, battery, generator, regulator and a new stainless exhaust system were installed.The current mileage shows 640 miles which is miles since restoration of the instrument cluster in November of 2011. We have a copy of the California title which states the car had 68,515 miles in 2011. VIN number is 5362100018 and believed to be a very early production for 1953.
