Description

Do You want a WELL RESTORED CLASSIC? How about THIS TIMEPIECE, A RESTORED 1963 PORSCHE 356B Convertible. The VIN# is 157649. The car up for auction is a wonderful drive. The exterior of the car is spotless and is near show quality paint finish. The frame shows no signs of rust and is very solid. The floors have been professionally replaced. Included with this car is a Porsche technical manual, a drivers manual and a tool roll. We also have tons of receipts for when this car was first restored back in 1980 and '81. There are receipts for $5000 alone in those two years. The previous owner also stated that from May of last year to January of this year the car underwent another restoration where it had all body panels removed, body stripped and everything painted. Also in this restoration the top was replaced along with the seats in leather and lots of chrome and new rubber. This restoration was said to cost over $12,000 in parts and labor but unfortunately we have no receipts to prove that. The 356B was faster, quieter, prettier, and much more comfortable than its predecessor. The body was given a subtle face lift, there was more headroom, better synchromesh on the gear box, and finned aluminum brake drums to improve the 356's stopping ability. The motoring press was unanimous in their praise for the now civilized 356, with The Motor remarking, "It is amazing that it still has so few competitors or imitators." The much-admired 356 was unique - an obtuse-looking sports car that baffled its critics. The engine number on this car is 609862. ENGINE DATA: Base Four (1600) Horizontally opposed, overhead-valve four-cylinder (air cooled). Displacement: 96.5 cu. in. (2993 cc). Bore and Stroke: 3.25 x 2.91 in. (82.5x 74mm). Compression Ratio: 7.5:1. Brake Horsepower: (70 SAE net) at 4500 rpm. Torque: 81 lbs.-ft. @ 2800 rpm. Four main bearings. Four main bearings. Solid valve lifters. Two Zenith carbs. The rear bumper is solid with no major nicks or scratches and the chrome overrides are also good. The front bumper is the same and is in overall good condition. The German Hartz cloth top in like new condition with no tears or stains. The front trunk is solid and shows no signs of rust anywhere. The front pan has been replaced at one time. There is also a top boot cover that is older, and somewhat faded, but will do the trick. The car is being sold with actual mileage of 94391 miles on the clock on a clean Colorado title. The engine compartment is clean but not detailed. It was informed that the motor was rebuilt in the 80's, but not recently. It does run strong with no apparent leaks or smoking. Please see my other auctions for a 62 Silver / Red 356B cab. And a 63 Red / Tan 356B coupe.
