Description

The 911E entered the line-up in 1969 as the middle range model, between the 911T and 911S. The 911E originally had a 2 liter, 140 horsepower engine with Mechanical Fuel Injection. Its compression was 9.1:1. The 2.2 L engine came in 1970 and brought 15 more horsepower with it, now outputting 155 hp at 6,200 rpm. In 1972 and 1973, the 911E received the 2.4L. with 165hp, and the 915 transmission. This particular car came to us from a Porsche Club enthusiast who kept a superb maintenance history. In the last 5,800 miles this car has had well over $5,500 of documented maintenance. Work performed included professionally rebuilding the transmission, installing a new clutch, flywheel, starter ring and clutch cable, new timing chain tensioners (Porsche 930 style with chain savers), new heater flap boxes and heater hoses. The engine out service consisted of new oil return lines, resealing the oil pressure sending stand, resealing the metal oil return line and fitting in case as well as the breather cover. The right cam housing line was replaced as well as the lower valve covers and gaskets, bottom cover plate on fuel injection pump and the crankshaft seat. Six new spark plugs were installed as well as all the ignition wires, distributor, points and condenser. The injection pump timing was set as well as the ignition and points. The paint on the car is in very good condition with only some minor spots of touchup. There is some minor scrapes under the front spoiler which is common for these cars, none of them are able to be seen unless you are under the car. There is some minor bubbling to the bottom of the door on the passenger side and a small bit to the front of the passenger side wheel well. The rest of the body is solid with no major spots of filler that we have found. The targa top goes off and on with no problems and appears to have a very good seal all around. The targa bar has all new rubber seals. Inside, the factory sport seats have been freshly reupholstered with hounds tooth inserts. No wear is showing on any of the seats, front or back. The carpet is in good condition as is the headliner and door panels with no major wear showing. All gauges appear to be in good working order as are all lights, blinkers and wipers. The gauge's have been replaced with the upgraded "S" instruments. Under the rear bonnet the 2.4 liter six cylinder runs great. As you read, the motor has had thousands of dollars put into it recently so reliability is not going to be an issue with the car. The 165 horsepower motor is connected to the popular 915, 5 speed manual transmission. This makes highway cruising very enjoyable and makes the car very good on fuel economy. This 911E was one of the last with the Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection system. The floors do show some minor spots or rust but are not completely gone by any means. Overall the underside is solid as well as the front trunk. Wheels are all in very good condition with no major curb rash showing. They are wrapped with five brand new Continental H rated tires that have less then 10,000 miles on them. The current mileage shows 120,274 which is actual. VIN number is 9113211049. The car is being sold on a clean Kentucky title showing that the previous owner has had the car since August of 2003.
