Description

Hot rods are typically American cars with large engines modified for linear speed. The origin of the term "hot rod" is unclear. The term seems first to have appeared in the late 1930s in southern California, where people would race their modified cars on the vast, empty dry lake beds northeast of Los Angeles under the rules of the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA). The activity increased in popularity after World War II, particularly in California because many returning soldiers had been given technical training in the service. Many were prepared by Bootleggers in response to Prohibition to enable them to avoid revenue agents; some police vehicles were also modified in response. The first hot rods were old cars (most often Fords, typically Model Ts, 1928-31 Model As, or 1932-34 Model Bs), modified to reduce weight. Typical modifications were removal of convertible tops, hoods, bumpers, windshields, and or fenders; channeling the body; and modifying the engine by tuning and/or replacing with a more powerful type. Speedster was a common name for the modified car. Wheels and tires were changed for improved traction and handling. "Hot rod" was sometimes a term used in the 1950s as a derogatory term for any car that did not fit into the mainstream. Hot rodders' modifications were considered to improve the appearance as well, leading to show cars in the 1960s replicating these same modifications along with a distinctive paint job.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present another awesome hot rod. This is a 1932 Ford Hot Rod with a 454 Big Block Chevy swap and plenty more! This is truly a head turning custom Ford. Affectionately named "Black Magic," this custom hot rod is finished in a deep black paint with purple pin stripes and accents. The paint is in good condition, showing only a few minor imperfections. The body is solid and sound. It is a four door, with two rear suicide doors. In typical hot rod fashion, the massive engine is exposed. On the rear of the car, there is a spoiler, wheelie bar and a non-functional parachute that hides the fuel tank door. Inside, the interior is simple. Finished in black & gray combination, the seats are in excellent condition, showing no wear. The door panels and headliner are also in just as comparable of condition. The carpet is in good condition, showing only minor staining in the front. The dashboard is also wrapped in the same material as the seats and looks great. The dash houses a set of digital gauges. Overhead, you will find that there is an AM/FM/Equalizer radio and a toggle panel. Things start to get a little bit crazy when you start checking out the engine. The '32 Ford has had a 454 Big Block Chevy swap, complete with a B&M Supercharger, twin 4-barrel Edlebrock carburetors, and twin Edlebrock air breathers, Mallory ignition and full custom, side exit exhaust. Attached to the engine is a Powerglide automatic transmission, shifted through a Hurst shifter on the floor. The hot rod sits upon a 12 bolt, spooled GM rear end and a set of 15" Crager wheels, wrapped in 165R15 tires in the front and 31x16.50-15L tires in the rear. The hot rod is said to have somewhere around 700 horsepower! This is a truly insane 1932 Ford Hot Rod and it is sure to turn heads and start conversations anywhere you go! The VIN is 18227123. It is being sold on a clean and clear title! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
