Description

The Austin A30 was an iconic little vehicle that was designed to replace the war-time Austin 7. Introduced in 1951, it was known as the Austin A30 Seven and was still fitted with a conventional 800cc side valve engine. An 800cc overhead valve engine was also available. Following many iterations, the car evolved into the A35 model in 1956 and was then fitted with the 948cc and improved ratio gearbox. The basic vehicle was also available as a van, pick up and the very rare Countryman edition. The introduction of "The Mini" led to its eventual demise in the mid 1960s.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer the very handsome 1958 Austin A35 you see pictured. This gentleman's car arrived in the United States from England in 2004. The previous owner purchased it in 2009 and has since enjoyed many miles of motoring as well as spending many hours transforming the Austin into excellent reliable and roadworthy condition. Finished in Primrose, the paint is in great condition with only a few minor rock chips, typical of the many miles this little A35 has traveled. There is a small blemish on the left rear quarter panel. The body is sound. The monocoque chassis is remarkably solid as it has been treated in the classic British style by having used engine oil sprayed underneath every year, states the previous owner. The chrome is in excellent condition and shines bright. This is a truly beautiful, truly European car!Inside, you will find new upholstery on the front and rear seats, complete with new webbing. The seats are wrapped in dark green vinyl and look superb! The door panels match the seat upholstery and look great. The dark green carpet is in great condition and looks beautiful. There is also a newly fitted woolen headliner that looks great with no signs of sagging or staining. As you can see in the photos, this car is in fact still a right hand driver! The dashboard is painted to match the exterior and looks great while housing the original center gauge while having newer Sunpro gauges that monitor the RPMs, engine temperature, volts and oil pressure. Did we mention this car won "First In Class" in a local car show? It's a handsome little car!Under the hood, you'll find a recently rebuilt 948cc engine, complete with a "no lead" cylinder head and new stainless exhaust. This engine has excellent compression as well! Compression read as follows; Cylinder 1 - 155, Cylinder 2 - 153, Cylinder 3 - 152, Cylinder 4 - 155. Attached to the engine is a manual transmission, completely with a new clutch. During the rebuild, everything else was updated: new battery, new brakes hoses, new brake cylinders, new master cylinders (because the rear operates on its own system), new electric fuel system, new gas tank and piping, new generator, new fuse box, new voltage regulator and the radiator was recored to maintain originality. The Austin sits upon a set of 13" color matched steel wheels with chrome Austin center caps wrapped in brand new P145/80R13 tires. There is also a complete spare in the trunk. All five wheels were shot blasted and powder-coated when the new tires were installed. This is a lovely English car that would make an excellent addition to any automotive collection or would make a fantastic Sunday driver for any gentleman as you will most likely never be passed by another A35 in your town! The VIN is A2S5HCS117710 and the mileage currently shows 69,783. It is being sold on a clean and clear title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!
