The story of this car started when the car was bought new in Southern Colorado in 1958. The previous owners father then purchased it in 1962. The father then gave the car to his son as a Christmas gift in 1970. The car was then driven through three years of high school and for several years after. The restoration was started in 1976 but was not completed until 1994. The car had been stored in pieces most of that time prior to completion. The current mileage of 3072 is the mileage the car has been driven since the restoration. Before restoration the car had only 80,000 miles but we have no documentation to prove this. The motor was completely overhauled from 1989 - 1990. The motor is the original 370 Cu In V8 with 4bbl carb. The transmission is the original three-speed hydromatic. The engine and transmission were both completely rebuilt using all new components. Also rebuilt were the drive train, brakes, brake cylinders, master cylinders, exhaust system, steering gear and pump, alternator, starter, heater valve, heater core and radiator. The electrical system was also upgraded to include a seventy-amp alternator, external voltage regulator, electric fuel pump and electric windshield wipers. Both the pump and the wipers had originally been operated by vacuum diaphragm driven off a lobe on the crankshaft. This system created many problems at lower engine RPM's and were underpowered. Underneath this car is as clean as the top. The whole underbody has been painted and looks fantastic. There is no rot to be found anywhere on this car. We have thousands of dollars of receipts for this car that shows most of the restoration. The photos do this car no justice on how beautiful and near perfect it is.
