This particular example is finished in a gorgeous and unusual tri-tone color scheme blue over Andalusite Blue over Black with stainless steel trim. This next-to-last model year Model A was treated to a recent full restoration with a show winning finish. This five window coupe has had the same owner for the past 12 years and was always garaged during his care. The paint and stainless steel trim on this car are in overall excellent condition and looks striking. This A has solid bodywork, cowl lights, a crank-out windshield and was the first car to incorporate safety glass in its windshield. Its engine bay is very tidy and the cars dual-band chrome bumpers are shiny. For 1930, the Model A received a moderate facelift, put larger tires on smaller wheels, had wider fenders and a deeper radiator shell than the previous model year plus the cowl stanchion had been eliminated. This Ford rolls on Garfield wide whitewalls, size 4.75/5.00/5.25/5.50-19. Each tire surrounds a painted factory wire wheel. The tires are in very good shape while the wheels are in excellent order and offer a pleasing counterpoint to the cars exterior colors. Theres an additional spare tire and matching wire wheel mounted at the rear, complete with factory tire cover. Under the two-piece, tilt-up hood is Fords 201 CID L-head inline four-cylinder motor. It is backed by a three-speed sliding gear manual transmission and a 3.77:1 rear end. Inside, the cars tan cloth interior is in overall excellent order. The matching tan carpet is in similar order, as is the headliner. Theres even a roll-up window shade for the rear window! The stock, four-spoke steering wheel is present, while the inner door panels and blue metal instrument panel echo the condition of the other interior items. The rumble seat is upholstered in a Saddle-colored crinkle vinyl. The engine was a 201 CIDL-head inline four with atop speed was around 65mph. The Model A had a 103.5-inch wheelbase. The transmission was a conventional unsynchronized three-speed sliding gearmanualwith a single speed reverse. The Model A had four-wheelmechanicaldrum brakes. The 1930 and 1931 models were available with stainless steel radiator cowling and headlamp housings. The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle, and gearshift. Previous Fords used controls that had become uncommon to drivers of other makes. The Model As fuel tank was situated in the cowl, between the engine compartments fire wall and the dash panel. It had a visual fuel gauge and the fuel flowed to the carburetor by gravity. A rear-view mirror was optional. In cooler climates, owners could purchase anaftermarketcast iron unit to place over the exhaust manifold to provide heat to the cab. A small door provided adjustment of the amount of hot air entering the cab.
