This handsome coupe spent the last 30 years with same owner who did a full restoration and placed the Model A on display in a museum located in central Indiana for many years. Finished in Andalusite Blue over black, the cars paint and trim are in very good overall condition. Note that the paint on tis car is not crazed but polished instead. This A-bones window panels are clear and intact, including its crank-out windshield, while its lights, including the optional cowl lights are haze-free and look great. This model also has the optional stainless steel radiator cowling, headlamp housings and dual side-mounted spare tires, complete with wire wheels and Ford covers. The bodywork is solid and straight, the chrome bumpers look good, the wood-and-metal luggage rack in the rear folds down for storage, the engine bay is very tidy and the runningboards are well done. This Model A rolls on Firestone gum-dipped wide whitewall tires, size 4.75/5.00-19 at all four corners and the tires surround black factory wire wheels. Under the veed hood is Fords ubiquitous 201 CID L-head inline four-cylinder engine. It is buttoned to a three-speed sliding gear manual transmission and a 3.77 rear end. Inside, the brown cloth bench seat is in excellent shape, as is the complementing carpet. The matching headliner and four-spoke steering wheel are also in fine condition. The blue metal dash, with its minimal instrumentation in the center, looks excellent while the inner door panels are in very good condition but the fuel gauge is inoperable. For 1930, the car received a moderate facelift, put larger tires on smaller wheels, had wider fenders and a deeper radiator shell than the previous model year plus the cowl stanchion had been eliminated. Prices for the Model A ranged from $385 for a roadster to $1400 for the top-of-the-lineTown Car.The engine was a 201 CIDL-head inline four with atop speed was around 65mph. The Model A had a 103.5-inch wheelbase. The transmission was a conventional unsynchronized three-speed sliding gearmanualwith a single speed reverse. The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle, and gearshift. Previous Fords used controls that had become uncommon to drivers of other makes. The Model A's fuel tank was situated in the cowl, between the engine compartment's fire wall and the dash panel. It had a visual fuel gauge and the fuel flowed to the carburetor by gravity. A rear-view mirror was optional.In cooler climates, owners could purchase anaftermarketcast iron unit to place over the exhaust manifold to provide heat to the cab. A small door provided adjustment of the amount of hot air entering the cab. The Model A was the first car to havesafety glassin the windshield.
