Built in April 1951 at GMs Leeds Assembly in Kansas City, Missouri, this example is finished in Swift Red with an upgraded drive train & suspension. The trucks paint and trim are in overall great condition while the glass panels, including the split windshield, are clear and intact. The trucks lights are haze-free and intact while the trucks bodywork is straight and solid. The engine bay is very tidy, the battery looks new and the cargo area, with its wood bed floor and dual wood side rails, is in excellent condition. The trucks bumpers are very presentable with some minor imperfections, most notable on the right front fender. Under the hood, a 350 CID V-8 engine replaced the original 216 engine. The V-8 is mated to a Turbo Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include power steering and an air bag suspension. This truck drives out with plenty of power with a smooth ride. This half-ton rolls on Fuzion radials, size 205/75R15 at all four corners, and they are in very good condition. Each tire surrounds recently added white, vented rally wheels. Inside, the red bench seat is in excellent order. Theres no carpet but the black floor mats are in great condition. The headliner and three-spoke steering wheel are in decent shape, too. The red metal instrument panel is in very good condition while the inner door panels are in satisfactory shape and horn is inop. Even the shifter still looks good. Finishing the interior is a Custom Sound AM/FM stereo. Advance Designwas a truck series byChevrolet, their first major redesign after WWII. It was billed as a larger, stronger, and sleeker design in comparison to the earlierAK Series. First available on Saturday June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years. The same basic design family was used for all of its trucks including theSuburban, panel trucks, canopy expressandcab overs. The cab overs used the same basic cab configuration and similar grille but used a shorter and taller hood and different fenders. The unique Cab Over fenders and hood required a custom cowl area which makes the Cab Over Engine cabs and normal truck cabs incompatible with one another while all truck cabs of all weights interchange. For 1951, doors had vent windows. Mid-year change from a nine-board bed to eight boards per bed. It was the last year for 80-mph speedometer, chrome window handle knobs and chrome wiper knob. There were new serial number codes: JP ton, JR ton and JS 1 ton. Front brake linings were larger and bonded instead of riveted. There was an improved foot-operated parking brake with the pedal near the drivers left foot and a simple release mechanism on all models. From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the United States, with rebranded versions sold atGMClocations. WhileGeneral Motorsused this front-end sheet metal, and to a slightly lesser extent the cab, on all of its trucks except for theCab Overs, there are three main sizes of this truck: the half-, three-quarter- and full ton capacities in short and long wheelbase. This truck is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 16,493 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title.
