The final Chrysler Windsor as known to Americans was produced in 1961, but continued production in Canada until 1966.After the war, the Windsor was put back into production as production was halted in January, 1942 when all automobile companies in the USA switched to war production. It was similar to the 1942 models. New things included a hand brake warning signal that warned that the hand brake was not fully released, and a new grill. Tank capacity was 17 US gallons and full instrumentation on the dashboard. In 1947, the width increased .05 inches. The chrome has minor pitting and only minor imperfections, but still shows well. Overall, this original Windsor shows very well.Inside, the interior is finished in the "Highlander Edition" red and plaid combination. The seats are wrapped in a plaid cloth material and look great, only showing minor wear. The headliner, carpet, door panels and dashboard all look great, only showing minor wear. The inside of this Windsor is massive and exceptionally comfortable! This Windsor even has the original AM radio, heater and clock also! Under the hood, you will find a clean 250 cubic Flathead 6 cylinder engine with a 4-speed Fluid Drive semiautomatic transmission attached. On the Fluid Drive, the clutch is used only to put it in gear or to change from Drive to Lo or to use reverse. In normal driving or cruising circumstances, you would drive it as a 2-speed automatic! The original 6 volt system is still intact. The car sits upon a set of 15" wheels with Chrysler center caps wrapped in G78-15 white wall tires.This original Windsor would make an excellent addition to any collection!
