1929 Buick Model 47 Older, nut & bolt, frame-off restoration Final year for the inline six engines Dark blue over black exterior with blue cloth interior and wood-trimmed dash 258 CID straight six-cylinder Three-speed, sliding gear manual transmission Car has no ignition key; it starts via switch Mechanical four-wheel brakes and vertical, thermostatically-controlled radiator shutter system Dual side-mounted spare tires, cowl lights, luggage rack, rear passenger foot rest Natural wood artillery-style wheels, windshield visor and horn Original 1930 Buick service manual The Great Depression-era Buicks helped cement the makes early reputation as a doctors car and MotoeXotica Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1929 Model 47 five-passenger sedan. This five-passenger sedan anchored the top of Buicks Series 40 range, its entry-level series. It has undergone a complete nut and bolt, frame-off restoration, with new body wood installed during the revamp. Please note this vehicle has no ignition key; it starts via a switch. Finished in dark blue over black, the cars paint and trim are in very good overall condition but there are various minor blemishes obvious at close range. The cars windows are clear, intact and in in good shape, considering the car is nearly 90 years old. The cars lights are in overall good order and this example has the optional cowl lights. It rolls on 5.25-5.50-19 tires surrounding wooden, artillery-style wheels, however the tires are in poor condition due to age. In addition, the car has optional dual side-mounted spare tires. The cars body panels are solid and straight, including the running boards, the rear "suicide" doors and the rubberized roof common to that era of automobile. The windshield wipers are inoperable but other extras on this car include a rear luggage rack and a windshield visor. The engine bay is very tidy, the battery looks good and the bumpers are in great shape. Lift up either side of the hood wings to expose the 258 CID inline six-cylinder engine. Backing it up is a three-speed, sliding gear manual transmission. Inside, the gorgeous blue interior is very attractive. The bench seats are in overall very good order, especially the spacious rear seat, with its full-width rear passenger foot rest and a bar across the back of the front seat to allow rear passengers to hang coats, shawls or lap blankets when not wearing/using them. There is black carpeting in the rear with floor mats up front. Above the drivers head is a blue headliner that is also in very fine shape. The fuel and temperature gauges are inoperable but the blue instrument panel shows has full instrumentation and is trimmed in wood. A four-spoke, wooden steering wheel greets the driver and the blue inner door panels continue the interiors theme and look good. The mirror glass and shifter are in good order. This car has no radio. A 1930 Buick Six was entered in that years Indianapolis 500, the Butchers Brothers Special, where it finished 14th.
