Description

The Bonneville name first appeared in 1954 on a pair of bubble-topped GM Motorama concept cars called the Bonneville Special. It entered the production lineup as a high-performance, fuel-injected luxury convertible within the Star Chief line in the 1957 model year and was loaded with every conceivable option as standard equipment with the exception of optional air conditioning. This put the Bonneville in a Cadillac-like price range of $5,000 - more than double the base price of a Chieftain four-door sedan. A fully equipped Bonneville could cost more than a Cadillac. Only 630 units were produced that first year, making it one of the most collectible Pontiacs of all time. The following year it would become its own separate model, and it would endure until 2005 as the division's top-of-the-line model. The name was taken from the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, the site of much early auto racing and most of the world's land speed record runs, which was named in turn after U.S. Army officer Benjamin Bonneville. This 1960 Bonneville Convertible was previously owned by the same owner that owned our 1960 Pontiac Catalina. The two convertibles were "his & hers" cars that resided in their Arizona summer home for the couple's drives on lovely desert days. However, the couple moved permanently to AZ and no longer had room for their Pontiac pair, so now we have each Pontiac in stock to be the matchmaker for their next love story. This particular 1960 Pontiac Bonneville has been tastefully restored and it shows. The beautiful Shelltone Ivory paint is in excellent condition with no imperfections to speak of. Both front and rear bumpers are in great condition along with all metal accents and emblems, showing no notable imperfections. The convertible top is white as well, showing no notable imperfections and looks great. Inside, the beautifully kept tri-color blue leather seats are in excellent condition with only minimal wear showing which is expected from original leather seating. The carpets, door panels, dash and carpets are all equally as nice. The dashboard is original and still houses the original gauges that look great! Under the hood the vehicle retains the 389 cubic inch V8 attached to a Super Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The vehicle is also equipped with power brakes and power steering. The original chrome Pontiac Motor Company wheels and white wall tires are in great condition. The mileage currently shows 81,247 miles and is said to be original for the vehicle but we do not have any documentation to support it. The VIN is 860S4904 and the vehicle is being sold on a clear title. GET OUT & DRIVE!!!
