Description

The Crosley was an automobile manufactured by the Crosley Corporation and later by Crosley Motors Incorporated in the United States intermittently from 1939 to 1952.With 24,871 cars sold, Crosley's best year was 1948. Sales began to slip in 1949, and adding the Crosley Hotshot and a combination farm tractor-Jeep-like vehicle called the Farm-O-Road in 1950, could not stop the decline. In 1952, only 1522 Crosley vehicles were sold. Production ceased after the July 3rd shift that year, and the plant was sold to the General Tire and Rubber Company. A plan to sell the Crosley auto concern to Nash failed to materialize, when Nash merged with Hudson.Regardless of its short life and small size, the Hotshot is well remembered as a phenomenal sports car within its class. A Hotshot won the 1950 Sam Collier Memorial Sebring Grand Prix of Endurance Six Hours and a Siata 300 fitted with Crosley power won the SCCA's 12 hour Vero Beach race. Throughout, the 1950s Crosley engines dominated 750 cc sports car racing, winning 10 out of 12 SCCA west-coast races alone.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present yet another handsome 1948 Crosley Hot Shot. This small car packs a huge punch and is sure to make quite the impression on any and all car enthusiasts! You should definitely expect lots of attention in this small Crosley! Finished in a shade of white, the body of this little car is solid and simple. The paint is in good overall condition, but does show some imperfections, specifically on the passenger side door where there are minor imperfections. The chrome is in great shape with only minor imperfections to be seen. The two doors are removable. Overall, this is an extremely handsome little Crosley Hot Shot that can be driven as is or restored back to its original splendor!Inside, the interior is extremely simple. The two seats are wrapped in black vinyl upholstery and look great, showing only subtle wear on the corner of the driver's seat from getting in and out of the car, which is typical of a 65 year old car. The black carpet is in great shape and looks awesome. The dashboard is color matched to the exterior of the car and looks great. The original gauges are all intact and look great. Under the hood, you will find a small 44 cubic inch 4 cylinder engine attached to a 3 speed manual transmission. The Crosley sits upon a set of 12" color matched wheels with chrome Crosley hubcaps. The passenger side front hubcap does have a crack across it but still shows well. The wheels are wrapped in 145 SR 12 2X radial tires that appear to be in nearly new condition. There is a spare tire on the rear deck lid for easy access.
