The Bentley S was a luxury car produced by Bentley Motors Limited from 1955 until 1959. The S was Bentley (and Rolls-Royce)'s first true complete redesign of their standard production car after World War II and their last standard production car with an independent chassis. It was announced at the end of April 1955, and it was noted that the existing Continental model would continue. The new standard steel saloon replaced the R type standard steel saloon which had been in production, with modifications, since 1946. It was a more generously-sized five or six seater saloon with the body manufactured in pressed steel with stressed skin construction.The gorgeous '56 Bentley S1 Saloon you see here is a fantastic example of the world famous Bentley's history. Having the same Beverly Hills, California owner since 1988, we were informed that this big Bentley has resided in California at least since 1969!! Finished in white, the paint is deep, shiny and only has minor rock chips and imperfections. This Saloon boasts a lot of chrome and the chrome has a bright luster with only minor scratches and pitting. This beautiful Bentley would make an excellent addition to any wedding photo!Inside, the black leather seats are in great condition with no notable wear or imperfections. Just like with any modern day Bentley, being inside this car is a luxury all it's own. Wood grain runs throughout the interior of this car, including the entire dashboard. The dash appears to be original and only has minor imperfections in the wood grain, typical of a 57 year old car. The headliner and carpet are in fantastic condition and look beautiful. Under the hood, you will find that the engine has been swapped with a newer Ford Inline 6 cylinder, complete with a Clifford intake and Holley four barrel carburetor. The newer engine is extremely reliable and would help fit this beauty into any wedding or limo company for those memorable moments. Attached to the Inline 6 is an Ford automatic transmission. The wheels appear to be the original Bentley wheels and are wrapped in new Michelin P235/75R15 tires. This S1 does have power brakes. The VIN number on this Bentley is B111LBC and the mileage currently shows 47,598. This car lived a great portion of its life in California but is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
