Description

In the post-war period, Alfa's racing success led to the introduction of a new generation of road cars in 1952: the 1900 series, featuring a thoroughly modern, two-liter, DOHC power plant. Although the drive train remained unchanged, an updated model called the 2000 appeared in 1958. The Berlinas (sedans) carried factory coachwork, but the Spider was designed and built by Carrozzeria Touring in Milan. The 2000 is highly regarded for its smooth, relaxed ride, and it is a confident high-speed cruiser sporting classic Italian styling. This particular 1962 2000 is finished in Farina red with elegant Red and black leather hides, a tan cloth soft top, and interior matching leather tonneau cover. Everything in this car, including the engine, is nicely detailed and well finished. The underside of the car has been undercoated but is very solid overall. The frame shows no rot and the floors and trunk are also solid. The wheels are wrapped with newer 165 R400 radials that have good tread life left on them. The trunk is finished in the matching carpet as the interior is and looks very good. A battery shut off has been added. There is a spare tire in the trunk which looks great. This is a fantastic little Alfa Spider that is rarely seen, and even more rarely up for sale. We have driven this car around 50 miles so far with no problems and this car is a blast to drive. The car will be a welcome addition to any collection or at the next European show. The car's current mileage shows 52,338 and the VIN number is AR1020402879.
