1971 Datsun 240Z GoldVin: HLS3037428- L24 SOHC 2.4-liter inline six engine- 4 speed manual transmission- 151 HP at 5600 RPM- Recent restoration including new paint, restored interior, restored electronics, and restored twin SU carbs.- Texas car for the last decade and previous owner purchased the car in California- New aftermarket AC system- Period correct Minilite style rims with 185/75/r14 tiresThe 240Z was introduced in 1969, aimed squarely at the American market. The car was an astonishing departure for a Japanese company, all of which had previously produced economic, no frills models. It was the 240Z which introduced the Japanese car as a worthy alternative and eventually almost a successor to the American car. With it's fantastic performance and breathtaking style, the 240Z brought sports cars into the reach for the average American. Previously, American sports enthusiasts had driven English cars, but with new saftey restrictions forcing the traditional English models out of the market, they welcomed the 240Z. The 240Z was a price rival for the MGB, and triumph TR6, but offered performance comparable to the much more expensive Porsche 911 or Jaguar XKE (E-Type) The 240Z made use of the L24 2.4 liter inline six engine (hence it's name.) The 240Z was an all new design, while it's rivals were rehashes of much older cars. It was also much more comfortable thanks to a spacious interior designed with large westerners in mind .MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this stunning Gold Poly 1971 Datsun 240Z Series ll. In 2009 the 240z had an extensive restoration performed by a highly reputable restoration business in central Texas. The restoration project had the goal of correct factory specifications in mind. The body was beautifully painted the original factory Poly Orange color and the front and rear chrome bumpers are in excellent shape. The correct Series ll badging is in place. Overall the five year old paint shows extremely nice with only a few minor surface scratches. The exterior is finished off with period correct Minilite style rims with 185/75/r14 tires.Inside, the interior is in amazing restored and correct condition with the exception of a Sony CD player that has been added. The seats, dash and center console all look fantastic, as well as the door panels and headliner. Gauges are all in good working order along with the lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. Since this 240z comes from the hot but great state of Texas, the previous owner had an aftermarket R134A air conditioning system installed for those hot days while cruising the Z. We have confirmed that the compressor kicks on and the system blows cold air.Under the hood looks extremely tidy and fresh with the Datsun L24 Inline six fitted with recently restored intake and twin Hitachi carburetors. The VIN is HLS3037428 with current mileage showing 34,231 miles. Car is sold with a clean Texas title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!Driving Impressions:"All I can say when I first saw this gold 240z is wow wow wow! Personally I obsess over Z cars and have owned a couple in the past so obviously I was super stoked to have the opportunity to photograph this 1971 240z. The 240z is pure sportscar bliss because its the early Z before the federal government imposed diving board front and rear bumpers and emission changes. In person the Poly Orange paint looks stunning and extremely bright as you feel you might need sunglasses just to stare at the deep 1970's flavor of orange. Inside I was happy to see how fresh and correct the restored interior was and peering out the front window you instantly transform back to the 1970's with the hot orange paint contrasting with the classic Datsun dash... I just have to state what a kickass atmosphere!Driving the original 240z's always catches me off guard because of how quick the L24 engine pushes the lightweight 240 chassis. The lightweight body also gives the Z its legendary nimble handling and this 1971 240z still feels and drives factory correct and is a blast to go through the gears in this Japanese classic. These early Z examples that are close to factory specifications are recently becoming very hard to come by and now is your chance to acquire such a fine example!"
