The first initial feeling when getting inside the Golden Hawk is wow this really is "the car of the future" with the presence of strong styling cues from Raymond Loewy's industrial design studio. The atmosphere of the car of the future even gets better when you start the 4.7L V8 engine and you hear the McChollough Supercharger whirl to life. As I drove the Golden Hawk down the highway, the supercharger has a wonderful noise that filled the cabin very much similar to flying on a commercial DC-6 jet of the same time period. The sound and atmosphere is so realistic that it feels like the Golden Hawk will take off at anytime and the linear power of the engine matched with Flight-O-Matic transmission makes this neat little car feel like a jet airplane for the road. I can only imagine how out of the world these cars felt back in 1957 and this particular Golden Hawk recaptures that experience perfectly because it is freshly restored correctly and is a true time machine back to 1957!
