Description

A year after Studebaker launched a radical postwar car, Hudson had one of its own. With its "step-down" styling, the new 1948 Hudson Commodore drew many eyes. The new profile was low and sleek, with a floorpan that sat below the top of the frame, so passengers actually did step down to enter. Occupants were fully surrounded by the chassis girders. Sturdy, semiunibody monobilt construction meant the body and chassis were welded together.Because Hudsons now had the lowest center of gravity in the industry, they quickly gained recognition for great handling and roadworthiness. They also appealed to stock car racers, who made them successful race cars. A long wheelbase ensured a comfortable ride and roomy interiors. The paint on this 48 Hudson looks great. It has a good shine and luster with no major imperfections to speak of. The two tone paint that these cars were famous for looks great and is newer. The steel trim around the bottom of the car is in great shape with no defects. The grill and other trim is equally as nice with no major dings or dents. Both front and rear bumpers look great with only some minor pitting and scratches.
