Description

Motoexotica is offering one amazing 1973 Detomaso Pantera on California title. The GT5 Pantera's were a rare beast in its day and are seldom seen in this country. The lucky few owners that imported them in the gray market days had one amazing car. The build quality was superior and there were many upgrades. However, those GT5's cost 2-3 times more then a U.S. spec Pantera and there was little to brag about in the performance department, especially if the car compiled with the tough emission standards. Fortunately, GT5 kits went into production that would allow an owner to update their cars' appearance. By turning a stock bodied Pantera into a "wide body" the owner could stuff humongous wheels and tires into the fender wells. The huge delta wing looked right at home, hovering over the rear haunches of the Pantera. Some people confused the GT5 for a Lamborghini Countach and that isn't necessarily a bad thing! The GT5 kits can be purchased in fiberglass or steel. This particular body kit on this car is fiberglass and the fender flares are molded into the body. Interesting is that the factory GT5 cars had composite fender flares also, however, they were simply glued on with a plastic material slapped in over the seam. It still looked righteous, but it didn't look totally finished as this one does. This Pantera is no trailer queen and has been driven. The car was restored a number of years ago. We purchased it from the previous owner and the fiberglass front spoiler showed cracking and there were many dings to the paint. We had the fiberglass fixed and the entire car repainted in white metallic. The paint shows very well with no major imperfections.
