The first Buick Estate used a wooden body and was offered on the 1940 Super model. It was available on Buick's B-body Special series in 1941 and 1942, and later on Buick's larger C-body in the 1946-53 model years. From 1954-1958 it was only offered on the smaller B-body Century and Special, with all steel bodies. Among these were hardtop Estate Wagons called Caballeros that were offered only in 1957 and 1958.This particular 1958 Buick Caballero has recently had thousands of dollars invested mechanically to make it a worry free driver. The car recently completed a 1000-mile trip from San Jose California to Los Angeles, through the California wine country and back with not a single issue. The beautiful Turquoise paint is in great condition. The body is very straight and in very good overall condition. The front bumper appears to have been re chromed but the rear bumper is original and in very good condition. All the metal accents on the vehicle are also in good shape with minor dings in the molding. The glass has some delaminating on the edges but this is typical of original glass. Inside the Black and Grey interior has been replaced along with the carpets and headliner. The dash and door panels all appear to be original with no major wear to speak of. The original steering wheel shows some cracking with is typical. The vehicle has also had an upgraded stereo with CD installed.Under the hood the vehicle boasts a rebuilt 455 CI engine attached to a rebuilt Turbo 400 Transmission. Other mechanical rebuilds consisted of the rear end, rear suspension and brakes, new drive shaft and u- joints, new/rebuilt front suspension and brakes, New Power brake booster and master cylinder. Also there are new Cragar wire wheels and wide white wall tires installed.The VIN is 6E2017671 and the vehicle is being sold on a clean California title. This car can literally be driven anywhere with no worries. These rarely seen Caballero wagons are getting harder and harder to find, much less in this turn key condition.
