| | Hi Scott,
Thanks for the email. We got home yesterday around
1:30 p.m. and it was definitely an adventure. The car (1966 Corvair Conv't)
ran fine for about 80 mile then it quit. We had to
walk about a 1 1/2 miles to a gas station then hoof it
back. We put a gallon of fuel in it and it started
right up and we drove up to the station and topped off
the tank. It ran fine for about 20 miles then stopped
again. We had our plastic gallon jug we used the
first time full so we again put it in the tank and
away we went. This occurred about 3 more times before
we got to Springfield around 10:30 p.m. I knew that
the fuel had to be contaminated and it was late and
we were exhausted so we got a motel room. We got up
around 8:30 got some breakfast, went to O'Reilly and
got 2 new fuel filters and away we went. We went
about 100 miles before it quit. This time I just took
the fuel filter off and blew it out and the junk was
thick. We had to top off the tank and clean the
filter out three more times but even then we got home
in about 4 hours from Springfield. That's about
normal
for the drive.
Part of the delay in getting to Springfield was an
accident that had traffic backed up for 15-20 miles.
It took 2 hours to crawl by that and then 1
construction delay probably about 20 minutes.
The car probably went thru 2 quarts of oil on the trip
with most of it dripping out while we were in motion.
I purposely did not top it off on one leg of the trip
(leaving it at the add mark) and drove about 100 miles
and it didn't use, drip, leak oil during that portion.
The brakes did get better and are not pulling to one
side like they were. It was tricky at first.
The little car is a doll and my wife loves it. I will
try to siphon the tank to get the crud out of it. If
that doesn't work I will pull the tank and get it out
that way. If I have to do the latter I will seal the
tank to make sure that it keeps the tank from rusting
inside out.
You never enjoy having car trouble especially when you
just buy it but I have bought new cars and had them
break down even quicker.
We are happy with the car and I just wanted to relate
our experience. I appreciate your help and
friendliness with our transaction. Good Luck with
your business.

| | Made it home just fine. Hit a lot of rain off and on. There was no water or moisture inside at all. CAme off trailer with no problems. Found three or four little things I want to piddle with but am quite pleased. (84 Gazelle) My wife won't comment, but I think she is ok with it. Thanks- John - | |
| | Well, you may have lost dollars on the sale of the Blue Caddy Limo, but, you have gained some Karma points. It has already: 1. Been used in two weddings (grattis except for gas) 2. Gone through a couple of drive-in restaraunts with gaping eyes on the other side 3. Been used to transport tired girls softball players home. Future plans include being used by a friend for his wife's birthday. On a technical note, it blew so clean on the emissions test that the testors used two different probes. The A/C compressor needed to be plugged in to work well. (I still think it needs some charging, tho). In short, it is being well used and greatly appreciated by someone who has wanted one since before this car was new. Thanks,- Jeff - | |
