1990 Chevy 454SS
To create the 1990-1991 Chevrolet 454 SS, Chevrolet plucked its big-block V-8 from the heavy-duty-truck line, stuffed it into a short-box C1500 Sportside pickup, stirred in performance goodies, and colored the creation black. Thus emerged an understated sleeper of a pickup, a relatively lightweight, two wheel drive, half ton truck, packing a monster 7.4-liter 454 V8. Although the V-8 produces only 230 horsepower, its strong suit was torque: 385 lbs/ft of it at a mere 1600 rpm. The kind of grinding force that resulted in 0-60 mph in under eight seconds, which was Ford Mustang GT territory at the time. Remarkably, the whole package cost only $18,845, including Bilstein shocks, quick-ratio steering, heavy front anti-roll bar, and beefy 275/60R15 tires on styled chrome wheels. Separate coolers were added for engine oil and transmission fluid, while a heavy-duty radiator kept the V8 comfortable.

The truck you see here is a 49,000 original mile 454SS that comes with a clean Carfax, new wheels and tires, new tonneau cover and updated rear bumper! The paint on the truck is original and in great condition with no major imperfections. In the rear, there has been a new rolled bumper installed that looks great as well as a new fiberglass tonneau cover that is lockable. Together, they give the truck a very clean, smooth look in the rear. Behind the license plate, you will find a hidden hitch that is rated for 10,000 lbs. The original rear bumper is available if you would like it.

Inside, the seats and carpet both look great with no major wear to be found. The dash is solid with no cracking, the same goes for the center console. All gauges are in good working order, as are the lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. The truck has recently passed a Missouri State Safety Inspection July 30, 2009. A/C and heat both work with no problems as does the stock AM/FM radio.

The big block 454 under the hood is very clean and in original condition. This is a very stock truck mechanically with no modification ever being done to it with the exception of new Flowmaster exhaust system. There has been new catalytic converters installed and the smog control system is still intact. A new battery was installed recently as well as a pair of electric cooling fans for those hot summer days.

The wheels are off of an Impala and look great. They are wrapped with new Bridgestone radial tires that have plenty of tread life left on them. The underside is solid with no rust showing anywhere on the truck. On the road the truck drives great with tons of power. The current mileage shows 49,420 and the truck is being sold on a clean, Missouri title with VIN number 1GCDC14N6LZ196174.
