1953 Swiss Condor
We recently purchased a hand full of motorcycles out of a prominent collection in Wisconsin. All of the bikes purchased were very rare and many have been rarely seen in the United States. This 1953 Swill Condor is one of those motorcycles. This is a Swiss army military motorcycle. The engine is an original design copied from BMW and Zundapp boxer models. It is shaft driven, with side valves, and a 5 speed high and low gear ratios. It is extremely well built and will climb a "Swiss mountain"! Also, notice tail pipes elevated so as to clear high water. The Condor is a rarely seen bike in the US with most in collections throughout Europe. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history and is sure to draw a crowd at the next bike rally.

1951 brought some engine changes for the Swiss Condor A580 and A750. In 1953 the bikes got rear suspension and another front fork and where called A580-I and A750-I. The same year hydraulic valve lifters and aluminum cylinder heads were introduced. Raymond Schaller designed the 580 and the 580-I whilst Mr. Fricker and his son were in charge. Also a civilian model was developed, the TL (Tour Luxe) and the TN (Tour Normal) models. The early fifties brought also a two cylinder Two Stroke 346 cc model called “racer” which was a very modern design those days.

This particular bike is in very good condition and has been restored in the past. We are not sure when the last time the bike was running but it does have good compression and kicks over with no problems. We will go over the bike and try to get it running before purchase. The transmission shifts fine and the clutch feels good. Both tires look good with no dry rot and they both hold air without leaking.

The paint looks good and shows no signs of damage anywhere to the bike. There are two holsters mounted to the bike for two Swiss rifles that are included with purchase of this motorcycle. The speedometer is broken and we believe the odometer is as well. The current mileage shows 2,390 kilometers. The bike is being sold on a Bill of Sale only with VIN number 85884.
