1918 Dodge Touring car
MotoeXotica is offering a great blast from the past. This 1918 Dodge Touring Car is a great looking classic that has undergone an older restoration that included the paint, top and interior. This car is a complete running and driving classic! I purchased this automobile from an elderly gentleman out of Alabama. He informed me he had owned the car for some 28 years, and was the first car of his 50 car collection.

The famous Dodge brothers, John and Horace in 1918, built this particular vehicle. These dependable and durable touring cars were used extensively in combat. The Dodge was General John J, Pershings’ personal choice for the expedition. In Mexico against Pancho Villa and as a command car during world war one.

The wooden wheels are in great condition but the front tires do have some dry rot to them. The spare is in good condition. The convertible top has no tears or stains to it and looks great either up or down. The underbody is very solid throughout. The three-speed transmission in connected to an inline 4 engine that is very clean with no signs of rust. A modern fuel pump, 12-volt battery and silent starter have been added to this timepiece.

This would be a great parade car or even a Sunday driver.

The VIN# is T198373.

This particular car was used in the movie “The Traveling Executioner” which was filmed at the old Kilby Prison. In this unusual black comedy, Stacy Keach plays Jonas Candide, a former carnival showman who roams the southern U.S. in 1918 with a portable electric chair. He offers his services as a freelance executioner for $100 a pop. He takes a job in a prison in Alabama, where he is supposed to execute a young woman named Gundred Herzallerliebst (Marianna Hill) and her brother. He electrocutes the brother first. On the night before she is scheduled to die, Gundred seduces Jonas and he falls for her. Jonas tries to get Doc Prittle (Graham Jarvis) to help him fake her execution, but the doctor demands a high price.

Inside the vintage vinyl seat is in good shape with no tears or wear. There is even the original beveled glass rear view mirror, which is showing some age but good overall. Under the seat there is still the original starter crank for the motor. All gauges are functional along with the headlights and the taillights! Mileage shows 19,167 and is not believed to be actual and is being sold on a mileage exempt title.

The body on this car is very solid with some very minor dings and scratches visible, the paint was done during the restoration and has a great luster and shine. The paint is peeling where the front fenders meet the frame on both sides. (See photo)
