1922 Star Roadster Blue
Motoexotica is very proud to offer this incredibly, rare 1922 Star convertible Runabout. Manufactured by Durant motorcars. This very rare collectable is one of only a few ever produced. Only 7 1922’s were produced in all models, full production of the Star model C only lasted 2 more years after 1922. The car comes with a book giving the history of Star along with a full printout of added information on this magnificent car. This wonderful little Star roadster has benefited from an older frame off restoration. Some years ago and was purchased from the estate of a Mr. Tozinski of Illinois. The motor was rebuilt and runs like a sewing machine. The cloth top is like new and the genuine leather seats are outstanding. The body is straight and true. The paint is in very good condition with some minor cracks from age. Tires and wheels are also excellent. Bid to own this rarely seen classic as you may never get another opportunity.The Star Runabout body is an exclusive design, Distinctive even among cars of a far higher price (back in its day) It has true streamline hood and cowl, with rear end gracefully tapered. The one man top is low and straight, with a clear vision rectangular plate glass window in the rear. The windshield is tilted and adjustable both top and bottom. Under thre rear deck is an exceptional luggage compartment affording 16 cubic feet of space, Which makes the model suitable for commercial or private use. There is plenty of leg room under the cowl, the shift and emergency brake levers in the center close to the seat afford freedom and ease of movement and control. The seat is low and deep with a high, tilted, comfortable back and upholstered in high grade material. The full 16 inch steering wheel is placed at a comfortable angle with the horn button on top of the steering post. Spark control and auxiliary gas levers are on the instrument board, together with ammeter and oil gauge, ignition and lighting switches. The gasoline tank is on the rear of the body where filling will not inconvenience the driver or muss the car. Complete lamp equipment, national (legal) headlight lenses, tail light, tire carrier and license holder are standard equipment.
The Star Runabout built by Durant Motorcars in march of 1922 sold new for $319.00 With the added options of a starter and demountable rims that brought the full retail price to $414.00 The Star car line was made as a luxurious yet highly affordable model.
The motor is a W-4 four cylinder engine that measures 130 cubic inches and is connected to a 3 speed manual transmission, and is equipped with an electric starter. The Interior is in excellent condition and looks immaculate the top is newer and in excellent shape as well. The Vin # is 178247 The current mileage reads 01 and is being sold on a clear Illinois title. The odometer does not appear to be working at the moment. We will be looking into this but no promises.
